Skillion Ceiling Insulation
Our skillion roof blanket insulation is available in a 570mm wide fold to fit rafters at 600mm centres. Folds are supplied in 2.6m lengths and range from 3-6 folds per bale.
Skillion ceiling cavities can have a higher risk of condensation occurring (Branz Bulletin 610). Terra Lana insulation is hygroscopic (can absorb and release moisture vapour) so it can help to mitigate condensation risks.
Install between I-Beams
Terra Lana Skillion Ceiling wool insulation can be installed from inside, suspended between timber I-Beams.
We recommend installing Terra Lana I-Beam Fillet insulation in the I-Beams before friction-fitting the skillion blankets.
Installed from above
Skillion wool insulation can be installed from above prior to roofing. Terra Lana wool insulation can withstand exposure to weather and will dry out even after roofing is installed.
Installed from below
Our skillion insulation is quite rigid and will friction-fit between rafters when installed from below after roofing. Strapping can be used to ensure it stays in place while building.
Skillion Ceiling Insulation Design
Terra Lana Skillion Ceiling wool insulation should be fitted between rafters, leaving a ventilation gap above (as per the building code)—which can be created by purlins. This further allows the wool insulation to vent moisture out of the building structure.
